Summary of Dragon Ridden Chronicles:

Tate leads a life full of secrets. Having an incredibly life-like dragon tattoo that moves when nobody is looking and no memory of her life prior to eight months ago can make things difficult. When a momentary impulse leads Tate to return an ancient hairpin to its rightful owner, it sparks a chain of events that soon affects every aspect of Tate’s life. Now with several people convinced that she holds the key to unimaginable power, Tate’s about to learn how a single action can have unintended consequences.

With no allies to watch her back, Tate’s going to have to move fast if she wants to survive in the city of Aurelia, where friends are often enemies in disguise and appearances are deceiving. My Opinion of Dragon Ridden Chronicles:

Here’s a secret I tell literally everybody. I have always wanted a dragon tattoo. It has been a dream of mine since as long as I can recall. I still remember telling my mother about this idea, and describing how I wanted the dragon to either wrap itself around my arm like it’s sleeping, climb up my leg, or have it on my bag with open wings.

I also remember her telling me to think it through for another year. And then again the year after that, and the year after that and…

You get my point.

Female Main Character:

One thing consistent in T. A. White’s books is the characters. The women and men are basically the same every time, there is just one character trait that shines more than the other.

So how do I describe Tate? Lonely.

It was the first thing that pops up when I think about her. She was lonely for so many years—years before they knew how many people loved her or how cherished she was or would be by the world. That loneliness shaped her decisions throughout the entire series.

She has a dragon (duh, I don’t even count this as a spoiler). A being inside of her that sees her strengths and weaknesses and loves her for it. She has a love. She has friends and she has a family. And she is so afraid throughout the series to lose them. It was cute, really.

She is good and she is kind without compromising herself. She refers to herself as a bitch when she doesn’t let others walk all over her and that pisses me off. When has it become bitchy to stand up for yourself? To put yourself first? When has it become bitchy to let people insult and take advantage of you on the pretense of being polite? If she’s a bitch, then she is the bitch I aspire to be.

And I would just like to note on how hilarious and marvelous her dragon is. 10/10.

Main Male Character:

In all of T. A- White’s book the men are, for lack of a better word, worthy.

The women god damn the women are powerful and loyal and beautiful and fierce. Each time, I think she deserves the world. And each time, the men are worthy of these women.

Poetic, seductive, possessive, powerful, commanding, loyal and beyond. These are the words that I would describe Ryu. The one thing I loved about him was that he slowly fell in love with her. He was intrigued, yes, but she wasn’t his world at first sight. Love takes time to build, especially solid and powerful love.

Plot:

Look, as far as plot went, it was okay. Tate had amnesia for like 90% of the books and I get that the author wanted to introduce her past slowly but it was a little bit too slow for my taste. I didn’t like being so confused for so long.

One thing that took half a star away was the amount of eye rolls I made whenever she “nicknamed” someone. Like, I get it, it’s a quirk, you’re quirky, shut up about it.

Side characters:

Oftentimes, the characters went on missions, on life quests, and had lives outside of Tate. Some moved on, others were mentioned scarcely because they were busy with their own shit. It was refreshing, not feeling as if the characters were waiting for Tate to show up in their lives so they can begin.

My Recommendation for Dragon Ridden Chronicles:

Honestly, this was pretty solid for me. It’s not her best work, but I would definitely recommend it to any dragon lover out there.

Hint: It’s currently free on Audible if you have a subscription.
