My Opinion of Forget Me Not:

This is on me. I knew it has one of the tropes that I hate, cheating. I just wanted to see, if it was possible to like the book anyway.

It was, under no circumstance, enjoyable. I thought I would be able to get through the cheating because he lost his memories. Like, maybe him not knowing how he could even shit would make it better, but it did not.

This review contains spoilers. I need to rent.

Plot:

Let’s state the obvious, shall we?

He cheated.

And it was the worst possible reason ever.

I mean, this all started when they decided to get pregnant. She had two miscarriages and fell into a depression.

Apparently, she wasn’t considerate enough of his feelings during that time. All he wanted was a moment when he felt good. He went out to drink and woke up in a strange bed.

Kodus for him for telling her immediately, I guess.

I’m trying to imagine it, truly. Me having two miscarriages, had doubts about being able to bear children, was grieving the ultimate loss, and was depressed. And then my husband tells me he cheats on me.

I’d survive that with the help of my friends and family, but I’d consider myself a widow after that day.

After cheating on her and her filing for divorce, he kept chasing after her. ALL WHILE BEING WITH THE OTHER WOMAN?????? ARE YOU FU-

Nope. I mean, I expected intense groveling. Truly apologetic, grieving their relationship and hating himself. I mean, yeah he wanted his wife back, but did he really think that was going to happen when his girlfriend was having brunch with his mother?

Ew.

The only thing that could have made this book good, was if she had left him after realizing he lied to her about remembering their divorce and moving on. That could have made this book so amazing because we would have gotten to see her actually put herself first.

More horrible than the plot were the personalities of the characters, let’s get into it.

Side Characters:

My best friend did get back together with someone that cheated. And I hated him for every minute during their year-long relationship afterward.

Elise being able to forgive Bennet so quickly after hearing that her best friend got back together with a cheater, A CHEATER, is simply idiotic to me. It’s unrealistic. She can’t stop her, but she certainly shouldn’t allow it.

AND REN, DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THAT GUY. I get that Bennet is his best friend and that he thinks he needs to defend him, but that was over the top. She told him that Bennet cheated after she had another miscarriage and was distancing herself, AND REN’S RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY BOTH MADE MISTAKES??? Fuck that.

Not to mention Bennet’s mother being cheated on herself and ‘convincing’ her to get back with Bennet was unrealistic. She hated her for years for ‘taking her baby away’. I mean, that’s an adult woman, grow the hell up.

Let’s just move on to the mains, shall we?

Main Female Character:

Girl. Girl. Girl. Girl….

That’s all I have to say to say.

Main Male Character:

Maybe I would have been able to forgive him for the cheating if he wasn’t such an asshole.

Probably not, but he certainly made it easy to hate him.

He didn’t love her, I don’t what the book says. He was obviously lusting after her, but cheating after two miscarriages, that’s not love. Staying with the girl for your own comfort, even though you know this is definitely hurting your wife, is not love. Getting your memories back AND NOT TELLING YOUR WIFE????? No.

I mean, you guys realize what it meant for him to get his memories back and not tell her, right? She told him that she didn’t know if she could ever move on, without knowing the details. She told him that it was the hardest part of their marriage and that he couldn’t understand. She had to face that alone. She had to deal with that alone because he wanted more time to be with her before they got into it?

Worst character ever. Every time she mentioned the cheating, he apologizes and expresses his pain, not even acknowledging her pain. He, like Ren, blamed her for being depressed.

Yes, me cheating was a mistake, but…

NO BUT.

Writing Style:

That was okay, which is why the book is a 1.5 instead of a 1.

But the plot ruined it.

My Recommendation for Forget Me Not:

If you think you would enjoy this book, then I recommend therapy and some self-esteem.

Is Forget Me not, not for you? (I'm hoping)
