The Vampire Knitting Club Series by Nancy Warren

My Rating of the Vampire Knitting Club Series:

Summary of The Vampire Knitting Club Series 1-3:

Lucy inherits an Oxford knitting shop…And so much more…Like the vampires who live downstairs and pop up to the shop when they run out of wool, or for their late night knitting club. They’ve even offered to help Lucy learn how to knit. She discovers she’s a witch and has some quirky relatives she never knew about. Her grandmother’s supposed to be dead, but keeps showing up. It’s enough to send Lucy screaming back to Boston, except there’s a mystery to solve and Oxford and her new vampire friends are kind of growing on her…

My Opinion of The Vampire Knitting Series Club 1-3:

This has been the most wholesome of wholesome books to ever wholesome.

I’ve read the first 3 books so far, so my review is based on that.

Female Main Character:

I never realized this, but all of the characters I read about have some deep personal issues that would be best discussed in therapy.

Not Lucy, she has a good relationship with her parents and her grandmother. She is a bit lost on what she wants to do and be in life but that’s simple enough. She dated someone horrible, but not abusive. She is willing to date again, but a little bit more careful this time.

She is just pure normal. Completely average person who finds out that their grandmother is a vampire. I would have exactly everything she would have done. She does not stand out in any way. Which is why I love her so much. She was completely relatable

Main Male Character:

Technically, technically, I know who it is. And technically, technically I know he is going to be the love interest.

HOWEVER, there were two potential love interests. A sweet and protective detective who makes sure she is safe.

A sexy dangerous vampire that somehow knows everything all the time.

I found out there were 15 books right before writing this review, so I’m sure we will have plenty of time to discover who she chooses and more importantly, who she is.

I think she should go for the detective, even though I know she’s probably going to end up with the vampire. I just find it weird when vampires date humans. I mean, a human in their late twenties is still better than we see on TV. (Seriously, why are all the 100+ year-old vampires going after high school girls all in every movie or series?) I still think it just seems wrong. I mean, I grew a lot these past few years and I can’t imagine dating anyone younger than me in a year, but somehow 500+ years is no issue?

I’m getting off track here, what was I saying?

Cops are hot. Detectives are hotter.

Side Characters:

My favorite is the cat. My favorite thing about the cat is that she only wants to eat specific brands of Tuna. I don’t even have to look up the author. I KNOW she has a cat of her own.

Plot:

Look, I enjoyed the characters as much as any book, but this plot really popped off! It was so unique and I am furious that I didn’t think of it first. I mean, obviously vampires are going to need to have hobbies to pass the time and knitting is very time-consuming.

The whole idea of her not being able to knit herself and therefore needs a shop assistant who can give others advice and show them the patterns and what to look out for.

Writing Style:

The entire book was written in this airy, good-feely kind of writing. It is the perfect Sunday afternoon read if you just want to drink tea and get lost for a little while. Did I mention it’s also a murder mystery?

Recommendation for The Vampire Knitting Club Series:

If you are looking for a light read in the evening, then this is perfect.

This might not be the kind of book you think about constantly, but it’s definitely the kind that has you reaching for the shelves for the next one.
